How fees work

Two small fees can apply to a paid signup — from two different companies. Here's the split, so nothing about your payout is a surprise.

Two different fees, two different companies

The service fee (2.9% service fee on Free; lower on paid plans) is Classy Studio's fee — it covers your signup pages, reminders, and everything else the platform does. Payment processing is a separate fee your payment processor (Stripe or Square) charges for handling the card. Classy Studio doesn't set it or receive it.

The same on Stripe and Square

Your Classy Studio service fee is identical whichever processor you connect. On top of it, you pay only your own processor's rate — Stripe's (~2.9% + 30¢) or Square's (~2.9% + 30¢). One replaces the other; they never stack.

Flat and simple on paid plans

On Pro and Business, the service fee is a flat 1.9% (Pro) or 1% (Business) of the order — zero per-ticket fees, and the small-order minimum never applies. On Free, the 2.9% rate carries a $1.00 minimum per registration ($0.30 for add-ons). Free classes and $0 signups aren't charged anything.

Pass it to customers at checkout

Prefer not to absorb the service fee? Flip one setting and it's added to your customer's total instead — your payout doesn't change. On a $60 class on Free, the fee is $1.74: your customer pays $61.74 and you still receive the full $60, minus only card processing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Absolutely! No contracts, no cancellation fees. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time.

What's the difference between Pro and Business?

Pro ($19/mo) adds custom branding, SMS reminders, automated message sequences, analytics, student badges, private classes, visitor insights, and a larger file library (3 → 25 files) — ideal for solo instructors. Business ($39/mo) adds team members, advanced analytics, a 250-file library, and removes Classy branding.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data is yours. When you cancel, you'll have 30 days to export everything. After that, it's securely deleted.

Does Classy Studio take a percentage of my class fees?

Pro charges 1.9% and Business charges 1% per paid transaction. On the Free plan the 2.9% fee carries a minimum ($1.00 for class registrations; $0.30 for add-on purchases). Free transactions aren't charged. You can optionally pass the fee to customers at checkout instead of paying it yourself. Payment processing fees are separate and go to your processor, whether that's Stripe (~2.9% + 30¢) or Square (~2.9% + 30¢) — you pay one processor's rate, never both.

Is there a free plan?

Yes! The free plan is available forever with no credit card required — with unlimited active classes and unlimited attendees per class. It includes a 3-file library, and paid signups carry a 2.9% service fee with a per-transaction minimum ($1.00 for class registrations; $0.30 for add-ons). SMS reminders, custom branding, analytics, student badges, and team members are reserved for paid plans.

Can I switch plans later?

Of course! You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. If you upgrade, you'll be prorated for the remainder of the month.

Do you offer discounts for annual billing?

Pay annually and save around 18% — for example, Business drops from $39/mo to $32/mo billed annually ($84/year). Both paid plans offer monthly and annual billing options.

How do gift cards work?

You can sell gift cards that attendees use to pay for any of your classes. It's a great way to boost revenue during holidays or let attendees give the gift of learning!
